Secondary subject teachers
Teachers are aware that pupils with dyslexia experience literacy difficulties. There are, however, other aspects of dyslexia which must be appreciated if the teacher is to have a full understanding of the impact at school level. These aspects of dyslexia can present as barriers to learning. It is the role of every teacher to use appropriate learning and teaching approaches to facilitate access to the curriculum thus ensuring the pupils reach their full potential. The topics highlighted in the various sections of Issue 1 are aspects of dyslexia, which can and should be accommodated before successful learning can happen.
